Provand’s Lordship will take you to the past of the Glasgow as it is the only house to exist from the medieval city. Presently open to public, this attraction in Glasgow has been perfectly restored in order to impart a real tinge of life in the medieval times of the city. Built in 1471, the house was a part of St Nicholas’ Hospital by the bishop of Glasgow named Andrew Muirhead. The visitors can still see the bishop’s coat of arms on the eastern part of the south gable. However, later it became the court residence of the canons of the cathedral chapter. The clergyman was used to draw his income from the revenues of Balernock and was popularly known as ‘Lord of the Prebend of Balernock’ but was corrupted later to ‘Lord of Provan’. This attraction in Glasgow is a must see one for anyone who is visiting Scotland and availing the accommodation in the city of Glasgow.
