The Museum of Musical Instruments offers a great experience for the lovers of music as well as instrumentalists. It features some of the unusual, rare and obscure instruments such as Spabish bugles, Bullroarer, a Contrabass serpent, Pocket violins, Didjeridu, Snake Charmers and Hurdy-gurdies. The collection of musical instruments displays by John Donaldson includes String, Percussions and Wind in crowded Victorian cases. It also includes an interactive Sound laboratory apart from the Ried Concert Hall. On the display you can find some of the most significant and the best preserved early keyboard instruments like virginals, organs, harpsichords, organs and fortepianos. These are all preserved from the period of their first time construction till 1840. There occurred an addition of the instruments further by the University and the Rodger Mirrey Collection of Early Keyboard instruments was donated in 2005 to enhance the treasure. While staying at Edinburgh hotels, the trip to the Mueum of Musical Instrument is a must to relish upon.
