Since the 19th century, the School of Archeology, Classics and Egyptology at the University of Liverpool has been known to be a pioneer in this field of study. Famous as the Garstang Museum of Archeology, the place derives its name from Professor Garstang whose excavations in Egypt, Sudan and the Levant have produced the majority of the archeological collections in the museum. The Museum exhibits some of the objects in the collection which represent the key areas on which the emphasis of the school while teaching and research mainly Egyptology, Classical Studies and Near Eastern and Prehistoric Archeology. While staying in any of the Liverpool hotels, it is a delight to watch archeological references in the current era. The museum also consists of objects which come from Garstang’s work from outside Egypt, like from Meroe in Sudan, Jericho in Levant and Sakje Geuzi in Anatolia.
