Opened on 1st October 1891 with a production of the film called Lady Clancarty by Tom Taylor, the theater was known as New Theater and Opera House. The theater was designed by the same architect who designed the London Coliseum, London Palladium and London Hippodrome. According to the belief of the Theater’s Trust, Everyman is the oldest example to be as a surviving example of a Matchman theater. The restrained decoration of the theater includes its frontage to Regent Street which has been contrasted with the affluent carvings as well as glittering detail of the auditorium. The theater was rejuvenated by the council in 1955 and reopened after 4 years and since then it has been called as The Everyman. The best charm is that the theater looks the same as it looked a century ago. It can accommodate around 658 guests at one go. A smaller auditorium known as The Outer Space has the capacity of just 66 and is hence used fro small scale performances.
