Albert Dock is located on the waterfront to the south west of the inner part of the city and was restored beautifully in 1992. These inner city docks of Liverpool were opened in 1846 by Prince Albert and were in 1972, these were the second largest docks in the inner city of Liverpool to be enclosed in Britain at that time. They were also the first to be built using only bricks and iron in order to reduce the danger of fire. The former glory of Liverpool is memorized by the old landing stages nearby. That was the time when the liners from America used to anchor here and the city was known to be a profitable trading hub. The worth watching sights are the decoratively restored warehouses, with luxury apartments, offices, restaurants, cafes and museums. These offer an exemplification of ‘gentrification’. While staying in any of the hotels in Liverpool, visiting Albert Dock is a must to do thing.
